Christmas in July

I just had to take some photos of this! My girls were having some kind of Christmas "show" this week. I went to see what they were doing and happened upon this. They created a Christmas display(s) in the landing of our stairs.

I LOVE this one that Laura created. It is a Nativity scene, complete with Polly Pockets (Joseph & Mary), a Baby in my Pocket (baby Jesus) and Pet Shop animals - lamb, pig & cow.

(You may notice the now filled but yet to be painted holes in the baseboard.)

There were also dolls & Polly Pockets dressed in their finest Christmas frocks. There was a Christmas tree with a revolving Pet Shop mouse (wearing a scarf) on a sled. (I was given a demonstration of how that worked).

I am going to miss these girls when they go back to school in a few short weeks. I LOVE seeing all the things they come up with to do! They have such great imaginations!

Safetyville Square

Lindsay attended Safetyville June 14-18. She loved it! This cracked me up - Laura asked her after she came home the first day, if she had made any new friends. She answered rather nonchalantly that she hadn't. I don't think she cared one way or the other. She is definitely more of a "loner" than her sister who chatted incessantly about her new friends on the first day she came home from Safetyville years ago! (Lindsay did eventually get to know a few kids.)

When the kids came out to perform their show for the parents on the last day, Lindsay came out with McGruff the Crime Dog - she was holding his hand. Too cute! Who needs Kindergarten friends when you have befriended a large furry mascot?!

Her favorite part about Safetyville was riding the bus (just like her sister). She also thought meeting the fireman & policeman were pretty cool, along with sitting in the police car.

It's Summer!

Wow, I've been a bad, bad blogger. I wanted to share a few things even though it's been a REALLY long time since they happened. I think I'll try to do several smaller posts so I'm less overwhelmed!

First of all, "School's Out"!

Laura came off the bus crying her eyes out. I was so worried that she was hurt or something bad had happened. She was crying so much she couldn't answer me when I kept asking her what was wrong. Finally she stopped crying enough to tell me that she was sad that school was out and she was going to miss her friends & teacher & most things school related. I'm pleased as punch that she's a good student and loves school!

Anyway, here are a few photos of her on her last day, June 9th.

Guess the sun was in their eyes a bit on this last photo. Oops.

I still cannot believe that when the school bell rings in the fall (later this summer, actually), I will be sending two of my little ones off to school. My baby is going to Kindergarten. Ahh, it doesn't seem possible. I sure will miss her - good thing it's only half day. Good thing I'll have Nathan to keep me busy!

Don't forget to check back soon. I'll do my next mini blog entry.
